The Buff
(Formerly The Friendly Buffalo)
The Buff is a bar and grill restaurant and event center that recently underwent a rebranding. They offer a great menu selection and wonderful staff. I attended a live music event there recently and noticed myself and others getting distracted by the random flashing of multiple TV's mounted around the room while the band was performing. They were showing everything from rebroadcast sporting events to infomercials.
The Problem:
People are attending a live music performance during late evening hours and they want to watch the band, not be distracted by the flash of a Chia Pet commercial on one TV, and rebroadcasts of afternoon sporting events and news programs on others.
The Solution:
Turning all the TV's off is a solution, though not one I'd like to see implemented. Instead, show a looping animated logo that is coordinated across all TV's. Especially while hosting live music events.
The Design:
They serve delicious grilled food and have a silhouette of a buffalo in their logo, so I created a design that incorporated animated flames in and around the logo. Elegant. Simple. Classy. Yet quite effective. Plus I feel this would elevate their brand image and attract more of the live event attendees to return during dinner hours and try more than just appetizers. During any performance intermissions or at the conclusion of the events, images of their food specials could also be included.
